How to Romance a Rake by Manda Collins

This week at Kiss and Thrill we are excited to celebrate the release of HOW TO ROMANCE A RAKE by our own Manda Collins!

How to Romance a Rake

You can lead a wallflower to the ball, but you can’t make her bloom–unless one daring young bachelor turns up the heat…

What’s a nice girl like Miss Juliet Shelby doing at a place like Lord Deveril’s ballroom? With her shy demeanor, she’s a total stranger to the dance floor and a source of mockery for the ton. So imagine her surprise when Deveril gallantly comes to her defense–and offers to teach her to dance! Juliet can hardly believe the most handsome bachelor in London would notice her, until he takes her in his arms and sets her heart ablaze…

Lord Alec Deveril has never felt such a spark of attraction for an unmarried lady before. Unlike the “fashionable” ladies he’s accustomed to, Juliet possesses a generous spirit, a fiery intelligence–and an explosive secret. Deep in the London underworld, a dear friend has vanished, and Juliet fears the worst. Deveril insists on helping, escorting her through the darkest alleys in town. But he too is hiding a shocking secret–and the only way he can defeat the devil in his past is to seduce the angel in his arms…

This book is so yummy we are certain you will love the blend of regency ballrooms with thrilling mystery, but don’t take our word for it, this is what reviewers have to say:

“Collins’ second installment of the Ugly Duckling trilogy is both a lovely, sensitive romance and a taut thriller.”RT Book Reviews

“This beautifully penned story is packed with mystery, passion, humor, warmth, surprising plot twists, clever dialogue, secrets and romance as it compassionately addresses the issues facing those who have suffered physical and/or emotional distress.” – Romance Junkies

  1. Congratulations on your newest release Manda! Now you are a multi-published author. SQUEEE!!!!!

  2. I love historical, my favorite genre to read. Add a little suspence and you have a great story. Not only do you get the fun romance, the crazy ride of falling in love, and happily ever after. You also get the added who did it and why. This sounds like a great book. Another great cover. Thanks for the giveaway.

  3. Congrats, Manda! I’m so excited to read this one. I absolutely adored How to Dance with a Duke. Love your blend of historical and intrigue. Yay!

  4. Can HARDLY wait to continue the Ugly Ducklings trilogy, Manda! I thought How to Dance with a Duke was enthralling!

Congratulations, good luck with sales and BTW, I have Jan 31st, 2013 marked on my MUST BUY THIS BOOK calendar for your 3rd one.

  5. Manda, congrats on the release of this wonderful book!

  6. Yay Congrats! Suspense-Historical… my two fave genres in one. Love the romantic feel of historicals where everything from their cloths to the scenery is enchanting and suspense makes me anxious to find out who and why.

  7. I love to read historical romance because depending on the author’s perspective the stories have such great range of writing styles and sub-genres to be included.

I recently read Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen which was filled with action and adventure but with plenty of sensual interplay as well. A friend asked me what type of book I was reading and I told her it was a romantic comedy mystery historical romance!

One of the things I always judge a book by is the interplay and connection between the characters and that is one reason I love Manda’s book so much. I’m really looking forward to reading How to Romance A Rake and she how she reveals the secrets hidden by Alec and Juliet and the journey they will take not only through the underground of London but to becoming aware how right the wrong person is for them.

    • Thanks for commenting, Jeanne- glad you liked Manda’s new release. I love her voice and the interesting vocab that authenticates the period. I told her I’ve read many historicals and she’s mastered this.

Shana’s in my Chapter, I’ve read all her novels!

  8. Thank you BRANDIE NICKERSON (if you’re out there) for sharing my FB link!

  9. CONGRATS, MANDA!!!!! 😀
Also, I LOVE those covers 🙂

  10. What more can a girl who loves both Historical Romance and Suspense want? Honestly, these two genres are what I will pick over anything! So to have the two in one book… It’s like Christmas =D Can’t wait to get my hands on your books Manda

  11. Sweet, sneaky, seductive is this story. I also like I’m All Steamy by Louisa Edwards which combines cooking with a mystery.

  12. Congratulations on the book! I like the combination of history with suspense.

  13. I love romances with a little mystery and suspense thrown in! Especially in histoicals it mixes things up a bit! Thanks for sharing!
